TEMPO ANNOUNCES A ROCKING TALENT LINE-UP FOR “CARIBBEAN ROCKS NYC” – TEMPO TURNS 10
HONORING THE LEGACY AND PRESENTING THE FUTURE OF CARIBBEAN MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT
New York, NY, May 24, 2016. Caribbean Rocks NYC, a cultural showcase of Caribbean talent, will feature a “rocking” entertainment line-up that will not only honor the legacy of Caribbean music as a dominant cultural force around the world, but also present the next generation of exciting Caribbean music and entertainment.
Caribbean Rocks NYC will be staged on June 5th at the legendary BB Kings Blues Club and Grill in New York Times Square and will be the crowning event in the annual week of activities celebrating Caribbean Week NY. Presented by TEMPO Networks as part of its 10-year anniversary celebrations, in partnership with the Caribbean Tourism Organization and the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, the event will highlight Caribbean tourism and entertainment, two of the region’s most lucrative exports.
During an exclusive VIP/Media Reception and Awards Ceremony preceding the main show, Caribbean Rocks NYC will feature cultural performances from major sponsors of the event, The Islands of the Bahamas, Barbados, Turks and Caicos Islands and St.Kitts. Several Caribbean entertainers and cultural icons, will also be saluted for their contributions to the rich legacy of Caribbean music, culture and artistry. Among them are Grammy nominated Bahamian R & B singer, the late John Kemp best known for his chart topping hit “Just Got Paid,” who will be honored posthumously. Slinger Francisco, the Mighty Sparrow, known as the Calypso King of the World, will also be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award as well as Councilwoman Una Clarke who will be honored with the Pioneer Award.
In 2005, during Caribbean Week NY, TEMPO Networks, the foremost Caribbean media house and entertainment company, showcased the most promising acts from the Caribbean, during its official launch event at the South Street Seaport. Also spotlighted was Rihanna Fenty, hailing from the island of Barbados, who in the ten years since that event, has become the leading international pop-star on the planet. Throughout its ten-year tenure, TEMPO has become a household name in the Caribbean, renowned for unearthing burgeoning talent and supporting the international debut of many legendary performers. This year TEMPO plans to do it again. By presenting an amazing line-up of Caribbean talent, TEMPO will help usher in the “Next Generation” of rising artists to super-stardom.
Caribbean Rocks NYC’s impressive talent line-up will include:

· Talk of the town super-rising star, dubbed as the “next Rihanna”, the beautiful and multi-talented, ARITA.
The event will be hosted by the “next” in Caribbean Comedy, social media phenomenon Rodell “Rodey” Cumberbatch from Trinidad & Tobago, with special guest appearances by super hilarious Comedian and entertainer Jamaica’s Quite Perry. The event will also feature top Caribbean DJs and personalities including Ron Muchette, Devon Matthews and Selector KG.
