Caribbean American Film Maker Debuts 1st Film

In celebration of Caribbean American Heritage month, Cuban/Jamaican American
filmmaker Dana Verde is pre-screening of her feature film Grand Gesture, at the North
Hollywood Performing Arts Center on June 19th at 6:30pm.Grand Gesture is a romantic comedy about a man trying to win back “the one” that got away. The $10,000 micro-budget film stars Bahamian American actor Alfred E. Rutherford and was written and directed by Verde.

Sharing a fondness for 1930’s romantic comedies like Bringing Up Baby and Top Hat,
Verde and Rutherford created an urban film with the sensibility of these classic
romantic comedies. This is the first full length film to be released from Verde’s
production company 3CK Media (3rd
Culture Kids) and was made in conjunction with
Inn-A-Circle Productions.

Grand Gesture kicks off a weekend of festivities that celebrates Caribbean pride and
culture in Los Angeles. Verde, Rutherford and other cast members will also attend the
Caribbean Heritage Salute to Hollywood & Excellence Gala, Hilton Universal Studios,
555 Universal Hollywood Drive, Universal City, CA on Friday, June 20, 2014 and the
