Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are officially parents.
Just weeks ahead of their first wedding anniversary, the couple has welcomed their first child, a baby boy. The couple confirmed the news on social media, noting that the new arrival weighs 7 lbs., 3 oz.
“The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thanks members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives,” the birth announcement said. “More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.”
Family members were informed of the new arrival — which happened at 5:26 a.m GMT — and family members including the Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Prince of Wales and more were informed shortly thereafter and are “delighted with the news.”
The Duchess was rumored to be hiring a doula to guide her through labor, with some reports suggesting that the former wellness and lifestyle blogger was keen to try hypnobirthing or even home birth. Exact details of the labor and delivery have not been revealed, though the palace did confirm that the child weighs 7 lbs., 3 oz.
