The 33rd annual UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball Atlanta is set to take place on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. This is a premier fundraising gala and a major social event focusing on raising awareness of the need and benefits of a college education. The annual event raises over 1 million dollars for the students UNCF serves and the contributions of historically black colleges and universities.
The annual event is hosted by a diverse group of corporate sponsors, local businesses, and professional organizations. the Mayor’s Masked Ball Atlanta is an evening of celebration attended by national celebrities, civic leaders, alumni, dignitaries, volunteers, and friends of UNCF.
In years past, a vast number of dignitaries from corporate, entertainment, and government industries have supported this must-attend event. It is full of fun, fashion, glitz and glamor which supports UNCF’s mission of investing in better futures for the young men and women UNCF serves and by helping them move to and through college.
The 2016 host Committee includes; Mayor Kasim Reed- City of Atlanta, Brannigan Thompson- SVP- Voya Financial, Donta Wilson-SVP/CCE BB&T Bank, Michael Lomax PH. D- President UNCF, Maurice Jenkins-EVP UNCF, and Ms. Justine Boyd- Regional Development Director, UNCF, Ambassador Andrew Young- Former Mayor of Atlanta.
This year’s event will be well attended, as world renowned drummer Ms. Sheila E, will be the nights’ entertainment. It is rumored that she will do a tribute to the late pop icon Prince. Hosting this year’s event will be Mr. J Anthony Brown from the nationally syndicated Tom Joyner talk Show.
